He's talking to someone he worships? But he should worship himself, and he knows it. It is painful, but he is stuck in this place until,

"the right thing is revealed"

It's all an excuse. But he knows that and it makes him sad to be stuck.

It's weird because I had this song stuck in my head the other day and the part that I kept playing over and over was "I speak to you in riddles cause my words get in my way." What I get from it is that this person has a hard time saying what he's feeling and it's tearing him apart.
