My dog is a picky eater
Help! My mom has been feeding my dog human food and it's not good for his stomach. I'm trying to teach him to eat dry food now (He's 5 yrs old), but he takes one sniff and leaves. He hasn't eaten in 2 days, is this a bad sign? Does anyone have any suggestions or tricks to get him to eat dry food? Any suggestions at all would be very helpful!

Have you moved away from your mom? He will eat when he is hungry, you can try to start feeding him dry food with some chicken or beef gravy on it and then slowly back off the gravy until it is dry food only.

I live with my mom. But I just figured it is a good idea that my dog eats only dry food (it's about time). It's more nutritious for him. He's really spoiled though. I have attempted many times to get him to eat dry food only, but he ends up winning  I'm determined this time. I tried scrambling eggs and mixing it w/ dry food. He just picks out the eggs! I think I'll try the beef gravy or maybe cooked ground beef mixed in w/ the dry food? Thank you for the suggestions :o

I am impressed with your dog for picking out the eggs, really! I would bet its more the salt content that he is now accustomed to. Try making yourself a cup of beef bouillon soup, let the dog see you eating some and then use a little to barely moisten his food, making lots of verbal fuss over it. It may take more fooling than you think? If he goes for it, water it down more and more over time. What a dog won't do in one step, he will do in many small ones sometimes. Also don't have the food available all the time.
