I am new to this site, but I have had something bothering me, and I am trying to find some answers...

We had a Chathlic Gentlemen to visit us the other day, and my niece goes with him and he called her his... he said that is what the Catholics believed and his children are Bastards... well his children know who there father is, so why be called Bastards...

I am Christian and I have never heard of this... and it has been on my mind ever since... anyone have any answers to this...

Nothing to do with catholic or any religion, it is merely from past words used for the last 800 years. In fact it is a very common term and was a popular word to use for years, The term was basically a term for children of a unmarried parents.

But while it was just a way to describe a person, but in our politically correct world, it is not used as often. And is not used that much any longer.

Again it has nothing to do with his religion, merely his perhaps education level in the use of some words.

I'm not following your question exactly... but if you are referring to the children born of a woman without a husband... they were called bastards when I was a kid. By all Christian religions, not just Catholics.

Yes bastard dictionary definition means kids born out of wedlock -unmarried parents.
