    A big huge mess.
I looked through questions and did not find one like mine but similar.

3 years ago my husband and I separated, I had a relationship with a man and we had a baby together. I then while pregnant with said child found out my husband had been abusing my children. So long story short.. I have been dealing with that huge mess and he is now in prison and I am going to divorce him. There was so much going on at time I didn't do it plus money reasons. The daughter I had in the marriage the military hospital automatically put the husband on the birth certificate.

I want him off (the husband) and the real father put on. But I have heard so much bull. Like how even if I prove him to be the father since my daughter already has a legal father he can terminate his rights even though my husband has NEVER seen NOR supported this said child. Pretty much this man that fathered my child no matter what will get off scott free... and the husband will have to support her NO MATTER WHAT.

    Im in TN.

In most areas, one of the two men will have to file in court, either the husband to be taken off, or the other man to be added as the real father.

In most states you can do this at anytime that the child is a minor, in a few states you have to do it with in the first few years after that point they will not allow it.

So if you want it done, stop stop listening to bull and hire an attorney.

But yes, in states with a time frame, a man who is really not the father will get stuck paying child support for 18 years and the real father does not pay a dime because the mother did not have it checked at birth.
