    Exposed pipes/smell
I just moved into my apartment it is a basement unit and in the kitchen all the pipes are exposed along the wall and ceiling. Is this safe or a violation of code? Secondly He told me that is smelled funny because he bombed it for pests however, I have been in there for 3wks and it still smells funny. Kid of musty like. What should I do?

Basements are prone to damp and musty odors, the smell probably won't go away, but you could try a dehumidifier. The only code violation I can think of would be for exposed hot water pipes, they should be wrapped with some kind of pipe insulaton. Let's see what others think. You may want to ask about the pipes in the plumbing section, lots of good plumbers here to give you advice.
