Transfer of property taxes to my name after spouse death
My spouse and I are both listed on our house deed. He is now deceased. I want to transfer all property taxes from his name to mine and to have his name removed from the deed. I am the sole beneficiary per his will. I want to do this in Texas without going through probate court.

How are your names listed on the deed? Does it say "John Doe and Jane Doe, as joint tenants with right of survivorship (JTWROS)"? Or "John Doe and Jane Doe, husband and wife (h/w)"? If it says either of these then you don't need to have the deed changed, since title automatically goes completely in your name when your spouse passes away. If the deed doesn't say either of these things then you will have to go through probate to have the house put in your name.

As for the taxes, all you have to do is send a letter to the Tax Collector informing them that your husband has passed away and all future tax bills should be sent to you.
