Hair loss - scalp biopsy

I am suffering from hair loss since Jan 07.. My doctor has put me on OLUX foamm Rogaine and Biotin 3000 mg... The hair loss has not stopped yet.. I have developed bald patches on the top and side of my head
The dcotor is suggesting scalp biopsy... Does this help?

Hey I also have same prob but for last 7 yrs.I used minoxidil biotin but in vein.but I haven't heard about scalp biopsy.anyone explain this
