Call I have my court date canceled and do it on a later date
I have a court date for Oct 20 for a scheduling conference for a credit card debt. I was served a summons to file an answer and I did in a timely manner then I received a Notice of Hearing that says the case is scheduled for Scheduling Conference. Can I do anything at this point. I had previously sent out a validation letter before ever receiving this summons. They sent me a pkt of invoices for the debt. Now what should I do I have very little time 5 days to be exact. I can not afford an attorney at this time. What can I do to delay this hearing?
I am also trying to refinance my home at this time I had a balloon mortgage that comes due in Feb 09 and a second balloon that comes due Oct 18th. So I think this will not look good if I have this on my property.
