    My rabbit is very sick
    He has had a big hole in his side for a month. My female rabbit, Fufu, had it but it went away very quickly. His are getting worse and are spreading. I have been putting antibiotic ointment on it, but it just pusses a lot! I had my grandma look at it and she says it doesn't look good and that he could die cause we don't have the money to take him to the vet. Is my bunny going to be OK? Are my other two bunnies going to get this since he has it? What is it?

    It's impossible to know what "it" is without actually seeing it and if one rabbit had it and now another one does, yes, it's possible it's contagious.

    If the rabbit is suffering - and it very well may be - you have a moral responsibility to get it Veterinary treatment even if you must take it to the local animal shelter.

    If you are, in fact, pregnant, this is nothing you should be playing around with anyway.

    I want to take him. I am asking the honors bio teacher at the local school if he would mind looking at it cause he is a vet

    Yes, I agree... poor bunny needs to be looked at by a professional asap.

    Yeah I know. I got him 3 year ago from someone who neglected him so he's still very skittish. Poor bunny.

    This is my best guess, but it's only a guess, bunny needs to be seen by a vet asap;

    Sounds like warbles--the larvae of botfly encysting under her skin. Check the hole and see if there is a bump/cyst under it. If so, it's likely a warble, and should be treated by an experienced rabbit vet. It sounds like this "hole" has already become infected, there is a chance that your bunny won't make it, but his chances are better with vetrinary care.

    Keep him separate from your other rabbits until he is treated and keep an eye out to make sure your other bunnies don't have the same condition.

    Good luck, keep us posted.

    Botflys can fly.. sadly. We have problems with botflys with horses... they can cause big problems in animals especially if it gets infected.

    The vet will be able to give you a better diagnosis, I hope that your bunny is okay.

    Good luck and let us know what happens. :)
