It it typically like a patch or... what? I have no clue.
If you have a vaginal delivery the typical painkiller is Lortab 7.5 mg. That is our standard order in the hospital I work at. Motrin 600mg can be given in between the Lortab.
For a C-Section, our standing order is a Morphine pump that is controlled by the patient with a specific lock out amount so that the patient gets what she needs, but cannot overdose.
Wish I had the morphine pump, all I got was a Motrin 600. It was not enough, I had a c-sec.
I was given Percocet 10mg when I left the hospital. While I was there they gave me the same thing, except when they put in the catheter-then they jabbed me w/morphine. I had a vaginal delivery but I had to stay for almost a week due to complications.
Usually vicodian or soemthing similar but if it doesn't work after awhile call the nurse and she will talk to the doc and he'll write you another script... IT iss painfullll
Congratulations on your new baby
