    Marriage and divorce
Hello. I got married about 6 months ago. We knew that my husband had something like a marriage before in Vegas. But they never sent anything to the court and never signed anything. So his wife said leave me alone we are not married. So he tried to find out if he was married and couldn't find anything. So we got married. I did not send anything to immigration yet. And a month ago his wife called him and told him that she found out that they were married she hired a lawyer and send us divorce papers. My husband signed it and sent it back. So they are in the process of divorce in NV. We are in NY. We got married in MD. 1)are we married? Or our marriage is illegal? 2)if we are not married can we remarry after he is done with his divorce? 3) what should we do with the marriage certificate that we have now? Should I send it with an explanation letter with all the documents for the green card? 4) can he get in troubles for bigamy if he didn't know?

Your marriage is void because he was still married at that time. Bigamy is one of the biggest issues on immigration. I would recommend consult immigration attorney before you submit any petition.
