    I've seen two types:

    1. Basically 2 separate single-phase transformers with it's own primary and secondary combined in one enclosure.

    2. A transformer with three primaries and one secondary each primary with it's own phase. This is a very odd configuration and is used when high power rectified power is needed.

A 3 phase transformer is basically 3 single phase transformers tied together
