How does my PO find out?
I am on three years probation. Almost a year has passed. I picked up another charge, theft, d felony, which I'm told will likely be dropped to conversion, a mis, because the value was under 20 dollars. My question is, how does my probation officer find out about another charge? I have to be in court in 1 weeks time for the new charge, initial appearance, I was just wanting to know if I will have an arrest warrant issued before then. I want to stay out at least this week if I can. -jeff

If you do not tell your PO at any scheduled reporting appointment you had police contact that is a violation. Your PO will find out one way or another about the new charge. You need a good attorney as you are only speculating that your new charge will be dropped to a conversion or a misdemeanor charge. Being convicted of the new charge is definitely a violation. Better start attorney shopping while you have the chance to do so out of jail.

Well of course he is suppose to find out by you calling him ASAP after it happened.

Remember often the worst offense will be not notifying them of the charge,

Often even if you got found not guilty you can have your probation violated just for not telling them.

How does he find out, on a regular basis they run a criminal history on you ( some clerk will) and when they see the arrest, and latter conviction, maybe a few months even, they will get a warrant for you.

So it is time to get that attorney and contact your PO.
