My hair dresser moved. I used another one in the same salon. I went in with light brown hair and came out with black. Any suggestions how to lighten. I have tried washing it in dawn - no results. I don't mind it being dark brown just not black.

Try a clarifying shampoo (one that's not made for color-treated hair) or hot oil treatments. If those don't work you may just have to dye it a lighter color, go to a well established salon not one that offers $5 hair cuts and family deals and talk to the stylist before the dye touches a single strand, many are used to fixing hair dye mistakes especially home dye disasters
