Urinary tract infections ( UTI ) ? Prevent, cure, or treat? PIease heIp!
:( I have had recurrent or frequent what I think to be UTI's. They come and go every month or so... I will have blood in my urine, and the sensation to pee really bad but when I do it kind of burns and its only a couple drops. I did have medical insurance to go to a doctor, but I lost it as of sept 1st. 2008. I believe I have a UTI now, because I have the symptoms I listed above, but I have no medical insurance and cannot go to a doctor, because I cannot afford it.

My question is if anyone knows how to help prevent, cure, or treat these symptoms or UTI's?

Prevention is the key... Drink 100% cranberry juice (it makes the lining of the bladder slippery so that bacteria cannot attach), lots of water and avoid caffeine... Urinate before and after intercourse and make sure intercourse is not rough (use lubricants if you have to).

Curing, well that's a different story. The urine needs to be cultured and antibiotics prescribed, this is why it is important to see a doctor or health department. If a UTI is left untreated it can, and will, go to the kidneys and cause damage that is usually permanent.

I also get UTI's often, and I hate cranberry juice. . So If your not a fan of the taste my advice would be:
    Try mixing it with Sprite/7Up
    CranApple
Also, they do have 100% pure Cranberry pills you can get at the store.(walgreens/CVS/GNC) and those help too!
I know they are really painfull, so what I also do is use a heating pad. Just over the area it hurts. It helps!

This is a comdition that I used to have. Not as bad now very rarely get UTIs, but they suck. I had all of the symptoms you described. The only way I got through it was through prescribed meds. Although a lot of meds give me yeast infections as a reaction so I have to get treated for that too. Hope you can find afree clinic to go to. There should be some where you are.
