What is the corporate action history of Westinghouse Electric stock. I am trying to calculate the adjusted stock basis for CBS and viacom in order to sell.

Did you originally buy Westinghouse shares, which later changed its name to CBS, which later becanme Viacom, which later broke up into a new Viacom and CBS, at which point you would have received new Viacom shares and CBS shares, so now you're trying to figure out the cost basis for your Viacom and CBS? The Viacom web site suggests either asking your broker ,or calling Viacom invester relations at 1-800-516-4399. You basically need to know how to split the cost value of the new Viacom and CBS from the old Viacom. See:

This is so simple I don't know why it's not on their website. Nevertheless, I just got off the phone with investor relations, and the woman said to me: "It's quite easy. If you have Westinghouse shares, your original cost basis in the Westinghouse shares is allocated 60% to Viacom and 40% to CBS."

I guess through all the transmutations (Wx to CBS, CBS adds Infinity, Viacom buys CBS, Viacom splits into CBS and Viacom) that's how it all shakes out. Anyway, feel free to call the Investor Relations number; that's what I did.
