Hi,

I am wondering if something special needs to be done with the drain opening in the floor of a tiled shower. I would like to move the toilet to this location.

Are the openings the same size? Is there a p-trap below the shower floor I can't see? Any gases I need to worry about? Am I crazy for doing this?

Sorry Ed,

The shower's 2". You will need at least a 3 or 4 inch pipe to pick up the toilet. This will require you to come off the main to connect the stool. First floor or cement basement? There's a "P" trap under the shower but all the 2" pipe will have to come up and be replaced. This is major surgery and w32ill require plumbing skills and tools. Good luck. Tom

Ouch... you mean all the pipe going from the toilet to the main (I am assuming that is the main drain or water connection for drainage; I think its called the stack) needs to be three to four inches not just the opening?

Sorry, The drainage will have to at least 3" to set a toilet. This means that the 2" trap and drain pipe will have to removed all the way back to t6he stack and a fitting with a 3" branch installed to pick up the toilet. This is know as "major surgery" in the trade.
