I just want to know who could give me the answers to who claimed my son on their taxes? I didn't work last year because I was in school fulltime and I asked a family member to claim my son on her taxes and she waited until it was too late to ask anyone to claim my son to tell me that she didn't file for him. I don't think I believe her so I want to know whether she did claim my son or not... :confused:

Why would it matter? To let someone else claim your son as a dependent is fraud. Only soemone who provides at least half the dependent's support can claim the person as a dependent.

Ok, you don't just pick someone and let them claim your child.

How do you find out, you ask them to show you a copy of their tax return, if son is listed, they did.

But why do you care?
