    What Breed/Mix is my Dog?
My dog's name in the picture is Brownie. I adopted him at pound and they said he was a German Shepard mix. He is now 7 months old. Can any one help me figure out what the other mix might be?

CLEARLY there's Shepherd in him, but who can tell at this age what he's mixed w/ entirely... Wait about 4 months... you'll get a better idea.

It is so hard to tell what dogs are now but I agree there's for sure shepherd there, but what kind!

And behaviors are also a good way to help narrow down breads

Well, what do you mean by "behavior"? Do you mean the way they act? Because there are aggressive Labs... as aggressive as Shepherds, some even MORE... lol

By behavior I mean every day personality kind of things. I have an Australian shepherd/boarder collie/ a bunch of other stuff mutt. But the shepherd comes out when she herds other dogs and people, she wants everyone together and where she wants them. The border collie comes out because she is high energy and super fast.

Start with how they look and narrow it down by behavior. Things like aggression comes from how people raise dogs.

He is very playfull and energetic.. I wouldn't call it aggressive.. not a food lover but likes to eat different types of food. Very active & playfull with other dogs/puppies too. He seems to be little small to his age to consider a german shepard mix (thats what they told us at the shelter). He is 46 pounds and 8 months. His face is narrow and got short hair. Also thin tail. His legs are also thin & strong. Any comments?

Prob has some german shepherd in there but another breed within him could be making him smaller then a normal german shepherd. There is also a test your vet can do now to see what he is but I heard there is a lotof room for error in those.

He is very cute. The face and eyes suggest a breed that isn't German Shepherd... I don't think. The eyes, check a book of dog breeds and look for those eyes, in that type of face. What does his tail do when it isn't wagging? Does it hang down?

He seems to be mixed w/ some breed that has a narrow or thin bone structure.

I didn't realize that he was already 8 months... looks in the pic like he is around 4 months because you mentioned he has GS in him...

Well I don't know if it helps but my old german shepard came from police dog lines and she ended up being small and fine boned even though she was a purebred. She was so small you could pick her up no problem.
