I am an unmaried father from Arizona and my girlfriend and I are breaking up. There is a girl I'm interested in seeing once all this drama is settled and I move out of the house. My ex has made it very clear that she doesn't like the girl I want to start seeing and as said that she doesn't want our daughter around this person. My question is this, does my daughters mother have that right and can I do anything about it? What happens if I marry this girl that my ex doesn't like, can she really make that difficult for me?

Sure, your potential "ex" can make your life miserable in general. I have an ex-husband who continues to do his best to make my life miserable. That's how life works. I would guess if the new girlfriend immediately follows the old the old will double her attempts to make you suffer.

Legally - if she denies you visitation (and I would trust you are going to have a support and custody order in place), you take her back to Court. Legally, no, she can't.

And, no, as long as you and/or your anticipated girlfriend don't present a danger to the child there is little she can do - except do everything in her power to make you personally miserable.

While I agree with Judy I do want to add that I have known of clauses put into custody papers that says that while the parent has the child (especially the ncp) they are not allowed to have the new girl/boyfriend around. In the ones that I have seen it usually expires after you have dated the same person for at least one year defined as just that 12 straight months. It dosen't always happen but it happens enough to mention.

You need to go to court and formalize a custody/visitation schedule. That can help minimize her interference.
