For flying, its great for crosswind calculations.
In civil engineering, and particularly in structural engineering, trigonometry is fundamental. Basically, forces on structures (wind, snow, weight) have directions that are not parallel or perpendicular to the elements (beams, columns) and it is fundamental to be able to use such directions.
It is important for solving differential equations, is earthquake engineering. Calculate roof properties, inclination of pipping, and a bunch of other stuff. It is so common that we don't think of it as a particular knowledge, but as basic as adding or writing...
