Suggested wiring pattern for 3-way / 4-way switches
I know there are multiple ways to wire a multi-switch setup. I am looking for some suggestions as to the preferred way to wire a multi switch setup.

    Thanks

Basically you need a pair of wires from first switch to second switch then to 3rd, forth...
Power needs to go to 1 end of the switches(hot end) which will be a 3 way switch, the other end will go to the lights, and this 3 way will have the light on the common(switched end). Neutral only needs to go from source to lights neutral(doesn't have to go through the switches. Ground everything.
So, with a three way(3 screws) at each end, you can hook as many 4 ways in the middle, they have 4 screws(2 travellers in, and 2 travellers out.

When you buy a 3 or 4 way switch the wiring diagram usually can be found on the back of the box... some mfrs put it on the inside, though... just cut the box lengthwise on a crease and open it up there you'll find your answers.
