    Not talking at 33 months
My daughter is 33 months old. She understands commands and is interactive with other children. She tries to talk but she doesn't talk clearly. I'm worried about her. Other children her age talk plain and ask for things. She says some words or phrases plain but a lot of things I have to ask her what she's saying and she throws a lot of fits if I don't understand. She doesn't ask for her sippi she either gets it herself or throws a fit until I ask her if that's what she wants. Should I be worried she's not talking plain and not counting or recongizing colors? Does she have a speech problem? What should I do to help her start talking?

If you are concerned I would get her evaluated. I think she may be fustrated when she throws the fits. That is one good sign she wants to communicate but is getting fustrated because she cant.

I work within a nursery and all the children at my nursery can talk usually about 24 months.
So that is unusual. But don't worry, children develop at different speeds.
If your worried there are loads of different ways of encourageing her.
See what you can do to encourage her to talk.
If she understands instructions and things than that's a very good sign.

My 3 yr old grand son does not talk, he tries, he makes noises. He understands almost every thing you say, he can hear. We can't get any Dr. to help with him. Where can we turn for help. He lives in Florida.

    Hi,

You need to speak to your Pediatrician and get your child evaluated. She can receive Speech Therapy through your state at no cost to you. Don't wai - the early the interention is started, the better the results !
