    Building a Square Frame
I know this may sound like a silly question but I am in need of some help. I want to build a square frame out of 4 x4 x12's . I want the inside dimensions to be frame to be 12 feet square... How do I arrange these so that the inside is 12 feet. Any help would be appreciated.

You can't. Two of your boards are 7 inches too short. For the two that will over lap, the other two will eat up the 7 inches it takes to fasten them.

Add a post or block to each end.

A 4X4-12 plus a 4X4 post will leave you an exact 12' opening.

    Happy hunting,
