This is sort of hard to describe but I sure could use everyone's help so I will try to do the best I can. I am also going to attach a jpg of the area of the home so you can see what I am talking about.

We are remodeling our house and I am working on flooring in my reading room. There is an arched doorway that separates the reading room from the back bedroom/bathroom/laundry room area. There will be a large sliding door that can be closed in front of the archway if we have guests in the bedroom.

The arched doorway, about 5 foot wide, leads to a very short, maybe 4 foot hallway that runs into the laundry area. If you turn left from the hallway you go into the guest bathroom, if you go right you go into the guest bedroom. The laundry area has space for the washer and dryer covered by sliding doors.

I want to transition the flooring, from the wood in the reading room to tile in the laundry room, at the arch but my husband thinks we should continue the wood flooring right up to the washer/dryer to make the reading room look bigger. My eye stops at the archway and anything on the other side of it is another room no matter what flooring is installed.

All input, or questions if this is confusing, would be greatly appreciated.

Will the guest bath and bedroom tile match the new hallway tile? If so I would transition it at the blue line right in the middle of the door so that when the door is closed you cannot see the tile form the reading room and vice-versa. If the tiles won't match I'd consider the wood flooring all the way into the laundry closet or up the where your hubby wants it to be.

Yes, the tile in the guest bath and guest bedroom will be the same as the laundry room, I did that for flow between the three rooms.

Then I'd put it where you want it to be (blue line), if you do what your hubby wants your dealing with 3 transitions, your way there is just one.
