    1995 Ford Escort Transmission Identification
I have a 1995 Ford Escort 1.9L that the transmission is going out on. The transmission is still in the car but I cannot find an ID tag or model number on it. I need to buy a transmission and have it here before I take it to the shop to be replaced. Is there a way to tell if I need a TJ or TX model transmission?

Re: 1995 Ford Escort Transmission Identification
I checked my Mitchell on-demand system and found no referance to either tj or tx. I must assume this is a model of the ford escort not imported to north america. One of the best ways of identifieing transmissions is by the pattern of the oil pan. Make a diagram of it and see your local Ford dealer and talk to their automatic transmission tech. Sorry we couldn't be more help.

    Identify.
On the top of the transmission, under the air intake tube there's a big sticker, white with black letters that's easily seen from under the hood, it'll have a tx or a tj in bold letters and a lot of other little letters after it. Hope that helps

Can someone put a TJ transmission in place of a TX?
Hello; I came across this post due to a search I was performing on my own car. I too have a transmission going out. As it so happens I have the TX transmission in my 95 Mercury Tracer. Can I put a TJ in place of that? Does anyone know what the difference is? I would appreciate any help. Thanks

P.S. I hope you had good luck with your Escort.

    1992 Ford Escort 1.9L 5-speed trans woes
    Hi to group!

My son just blew up the 5-speed transmission in his 1992 1.9L. Oops.

Ford said they do not have parts, so can anyone give us advice, please? Anyone got got a replacement for sale or parts?

    Thanks,
    Brent and Kent
