Generator transfer switch - enough for well pump
I have a 10hp 5600 generator that I want to connect to a "GenTran 20216 Manual Transfer Switch". It states that this transfer switch has 6 switches (rated 15 amps ea), a handle tie for one 2-pole circuit such as a well pump. My question is this - my well pump is 220 30 amps. Does two switches at 15 amps each total 30 amps? My thinking is NO - that each would trip at 15 but I am no electrician.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

    KISS

Nope! The circuit goes through a 15 A to the load and through another 15 A, so the total current is 15A. The reason there is two is so both trip when overloaded.

This avoids having a 120 V connected to one end.
