How can I lessen anxiety about my c-section?
This Thursday, Im scheduled to have a c-section at 8am. I am trying my best not to worry about it and stress out. Ive had two c-sections before and I got worked up both times and so anxiuos that I couldn't enjoy the birth. I kept thinking the worst would happen. I really want to enjoy this birth as it will be my last. Can someone please give me some ideas on what I can do to not let anxiety get the better of me? Ive already discussed this with my doctor and he said that I just needed to calm down and there is nothing they can give you to relax until the baby is born. That didn't help much. I wish I could have a natural birth. All my babies have been breech just like this one. Anyway, Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Do you have a partner or other support person going in with you? Having them talk to you, rubbing your shoulder or arm, stroking your head, etc. whatever you feel might be a calming touch. Some women find having some music playing helps them to relax more, you might also ask for the curtain to be lowered right at the time of birth so that you can watch your child being born if you are interested.

Some women find the slow, easy breathing that can be helpful in labor can also be helpful with a c-section... or any other time you might be feeling a bit anxious.

Spend some quiet time now with your baby... feeling those last few movements, rubbing your belly, relaxing in a warm bath, maybe splurge and have a pregnancy massage the day before.

Focus on the picture of cooing over your new baby by lunchtime on Thursday!
