I'm trying to switch my old Trane thermostat BAYSENS008B to a hunter44660 having problems matching up the wires.

Please describe problem in detail. My crystal ball is broken so I cannot tell exactly what your problem is from here unless you explain. One thing I am sure you have done was to mark the wires exactly from where they came when you removed them from the old thermostat just like the instructions said to do?

Now, if you can tell us the colors of the wires at the thermostat, and tell us witch colors are connected to r,w,y,g,c at the furnace we should be able to help you out. Should be pretty simple(assuming your new thermosat is compatible with your furnace)

My magic ball is working,, and it tell me to tell you to trade that hunter tstat for a good one that you will be able to depend on,, hunter is junk

I'm pretty sure that his magic ball is telling you to by a honewell. Just a guess.
Can't argue with the ball.

wires are R,W,B,Y,G coming from the Trane unit. 1=R,2=W,3=B,4=Y,5=G on the old Trane thermostat. G,RC,RC1,RH,Y/O,W/B on the Hunter unit.


I've tried R=RC1, jumped with RC+RH, G=G,Y=Y/O,W=W/O,BLUE=capped off.

4Your Thermostat is designed to operate with most gas, oil, electric, or 2-wire hot water heating and air conditioning systems. It will also operate single-stage heat pumps that do not have auxiliary or emergency heat. These have 24 volt or millivolt control systems and represent most central heating, air conditioning, or space heating units in the United States.
This thermostat will not control 120/240 Volt systems or millivolt systems.


NOTE: This thermostat will not work with a heatpump system that also has electric heat.

I believe you have the wrong thermostat. Get rid of the Hunter and get a good Honeywell or White Rodgers. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.This is also the reason for requesting that you post more info.

If you read your owners manual you would have found this out.
