The morning after I had sex with my long term girl friend, I noticed the rim around my penis was a little red. Half a day later the left side developed a scab like protrusion. A day later the scab grew larger and then I noticed a hair (perhaps pubic) sticking out from the scab. I grabbed the hair and pulled and it came out very easy with the scab. The scab was more yellow than red. I cleaned the open wound with H2O2 and applied a anti-fungal cream called Mycocide NS because I have pre-existing toenail fungus and sometimes I get a case of jock itch. A day later the site grew infected ( I believe), and has developed into a offset white with a little yellow. The area has grown bigger as well. Is it time for me to see a doctor or is there anything else I can do? Should I be worried? Why did I develop a scab in the first place? Could it be a yeast infection?

On a side note: About 2 months ago I went to a clinic to get tested for diabetes because I was feeling exhausted, I had a loss of appetite, and I have a family history of it. The blood test came back with a negative results in diabetes, however the doctor did mention a high count in eosinophils (yes, I do realize this is a sign of allergies and/or a parasitic infection). The reason I bring this up is because I'm curious if it's possible if my toenail fungus has gone systemic and is causing internal problems too because another doctor diagnosed me with eczema and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).

Firstly, I don't think you should have used the anti fungal cream on your penis. The wound could not have absorbed enough of the fungal cream to 'go systemic' as you say and this only refers to plants, as in orchids. Although I do understand what you mean. What by the way is H202? It was probably better just keeping the site clean.

The infection occurred possibly by using something on that area of your body that had no business being there.

The scab on your penis sounds like an ingrown hair that was probably agitated into infection. Sounds like you have other problems, IBS must be dealt with early or can morph into diverticulitis. Not a pleasant condition at the best of times and I hope he gave you some advice on how to deal with it to maintain a comfort level. I would suggest you look up on line, what you can and cannot eat.

H202 is hydrogen peroxide. I've also used isopropyl alcohol and both of them burned liked hell. The anti-fungal cream did not burn at all and I used it because of my pre-existing condition of fungal problems (fungal problems with Tinea). Tinea causes toenail fungus, jock itch, athletes foot, and dandriff. So I used anti-fungal because of the color of the scab. Yes, I realize it could be a different type of infection, such as staphylococcus aureus but due to my current health conditions I thought I'd tackle a good opportunist pathogen that's giving me problems (Tinea).

Please, don't put anything on your penis that is not meant for your penis.

From your description, it sounds as though you have an infection. Time to phone the doctor.

Forgot to reply to Tickle's reply of the cream going systemic. I wasn't worried about the cream going systemic, I was asking about if a fungus such as Tinea can go systemic internally because what if my "eczema rashes" are not really eczema and what if my uncomfortable stomach isn't form IBS. I know fungi can causes rashes but I'm not sure about lower abdominal pain. In other words, what if I've been falsely diagnosed and all of my symptoms (including my new problem) are related to Tinea.


Mycocide NS only warning is if it gets into the eyes. Nothing else is stated and it does say to use on fungal skin infections.

Tinea, yes, now I know what it is and one symptom is ringworm. So I guess I now see why you used the antifungal cream, but that is such a tender place to put it ! Tinea is so all encompassing as it states in many websites I have just read.
