Do you think the NRA will endorse John McCain
I am waiting to see if they do. There is a bunch of Obama rhetoric on their website but I don't see any about McCain. He is not any better than Obama is when it comes to guns. He has sponsored anti gun legislation in the past. He received a failing grade from the Gun Owners of America, as did Obama. I guess I am wondering if the NRA is more of a political machine rather than an organization that really cares about the Second Amendment. I used to be a member, but I don't think I would want anything to do with them anymore.

    Hello J:

I don't think there's ANY large association of people that ISN'T political today. It's true that there are individual NRA members, like yourself, who don't like John McCain. It's also probably true that the leadership doesn't either...

However, John McCain, should he win, will appoint Supreme Court Justices (probably THREE) that WILL support the 2nd Amendment. Obama won't. So, in my humble opinion, THAT fact alone will cause the NRA to endorse McCain.

Either him or Bob Barr . My guess is that the Palin selection as Veep will be a deciding factor.

    Edit :

By the way... EXCON is correct when he states that the composition of the Supreme Court is a critical if under-addressed aspect of this election. All this stuff about the economy is sideshow because the President has little influence on the business cycle. The biggest things President's do is conduct foreign policy and appoint members of the Federal Judiciary including the Supreme Court. Since judges have lifetime appointments the impact of this is long standing .

Tom points out THE reason I will feel comfortable voting for McCain, followed closely by who would take his place in case.

And that's the reason why a lot of people are NOT voting for McCain. :D
