Hi am 17 and I know am young but my concern is a couple lo monthes ago me and my boyfriend been having unprotected sex due to the fact we wanted to have a baby but I just didn't get pregnant.That worries me alote because it just makes me think I just may not be able to have kids or that something is wrong.Since am 17 am not able to talk to enyone about that worry I have.I don't know! What could be some reasons am just not getting pregnant??

I was in the same situation. I'm 18 now but for the last year and a half or so I was also trying to have a baby with my boyfriend and nothing was happening. I went to the doctor and found out I had PCOS.. I had to be persistent though because the doctor didn't want to help me due to my age so I had to find one that would.

It's not uncommon to have it take many months to become pregnant, even when actively trying. Most doctors won't start testing to see if there is a concern until you have been trying for at least a year.

When you feel you can truly take care of a baby on your own... emotionally, physically, and financially, make a visit with your doctor to discuss the best approach. A preconception visit is always a good idea to go over your past medical history, be sure you are doing all that you (and your partner) can be doing to insure a healthy pregnancy and baby, and to best prepare yourselves for the possible challenges of pregnancy and childbirth.

Hiii I understand how you feel.I too want to get pregnant at 17 but you have to understand you can't just get pregnant right away.You have to have sex during your ovulation.Also make sure everything is fine with you and your partner.

Sorry, I can't sit here and not say what I'm sure is on a lot of people's minds.

Honey, you're 17, why the rush?

Do you have any idea how much babies cost? Do you have your own home? A car? A high school diploma, a college degree, a stable well paying job?

Are you married to your potential babies father? If not, why, doesn't it make sense to get married before you bring a child into this world?

I know that it seems romantic. Yes, my love and I will have a baby, it will never cry, it will be perfect, it will bring us closer together, we will be one big happy family, the baby will complete me.

The reality is that there is nothing romantic about having a baby. You could be the most stable couple in the world, the baby will drive a wedge between you. A baby is it's own person, it will not be perfect, it will cry, scream, howl, sometimes for days on end, be prepared to get no sleep. Also, your social life will end. No going out whenever you want, no parties, no clubbing, having fun, you have a responsibility now, a life long responsibility.

It never ceases to amaze me that kids want to have kids. What do you think is so glamorous about being a parent at 17?

Why are kids today in such a hurry to grow up? Who are you having a baby for? Certainly not because your mature enough. I would guess that this baby is for you, to give you something that is all yours. Well, that's the worst reason in the world to have a child.

Please think this through, read up on it, talk to an adult that you respect. Don't jump into this, I know, yes know, that you will regret it.
