    The end of the world?
A guy came up to me the other day and said to me, "he did you hear it's the end of the world? you hang in there!" It was a little creepy, but with the messes that we're getting ourselve's into it's not too hard to see something happen in the near future. When I told my fiancé he just said, "yeah the world is going to end in 2012, Nostradamus says so, and so does the Mayan calendar." I remember hearing that somewhere. Does anyone know the specific date these prophecies say or where they came from?

Googling would have given you this:

    Hi, jaime90!

There are also many sites that can be found via clicking on the following link that address that idea as being a hoax.

The Mayan calendar stated Dec 21st 2012 is the end of the world. However, that guy may have just been playing around with you. A lot of Chaos believers and Discordians just LOVE playing around like that.

This sort of subject has also been discussed extensively on at least the following threads on this site. Might be worth clicking on the links below and seeing what information is on them.

Actually the world will come to an end long before 2012 when the Large Hadron Colider starts reving up to full power. Here's a site you can check each morning to see if the earth has been destroyed yet:

Has the Large Hadron Collider destroyed the earth yet?

Ummm, forgive me if I don't understand, but if the earth is destroyed, then we are destroyed, so how would we check the website if we don't exist anymore?:p

That's the point, of course. I guess the joke is a little too subtle.

So it's still working - hooray!

Be sure to post back if you ever find that the site gives the wrong answer...
