Setting date and time on JVC HD Everio
Just got a JVC HD Everio camcorder, (GZ-HD3) Really frustrating interface, can't set date or time, each time I input details, (via 'select' on joystick) I press 'set' (as instructed) and it zero's what you have just done.
I have tried other variations of the buttons, using 'menu' to close or simply closing window. But every time I restart the camera I get 'please set time/date' and the unit tells me its 2007!

    Any thoughts?

OK, so I did the firmware upgrade first so I can't say whether it was that or the battery removal trick or the fully charging, but one of these solutions WILL work for you.

The Manual states that the internal clock is ran by the internal lithium battery. It suggests that you plug the cammera into the AC for 24 hours to charge this battery. I'm having the same problem and am plugging it in tonight to see how that goes.

OK, the trick seems to be you need to remove the battery and leave the AC powered in. The minute I did this, the set time function worked.

OK 3rd method. There is a v1.12 software for the HD3 that specifically addresses this issue. More info at the JVC support site: Software Updates
Update is relatively painless, takes about 7 min.
