I know I've done this before but can't find the "how to" reminder from Help:
I've got a basic pdf document that is a form (but no editable form fields). I want to be able to type to complete the form.
How do I do that?
Thanks!

This has to be done on the part of the PDF author. They have to setup the document to be fillable. They have to have the full version of Acrobat to do that.
This process has been improved greatly with Acrobat 7. Previously, the data was stored in a separate file. But, I believe, with A7, its now kept as part of the PDF.
An alternative, if all you want is to print a copy of the form with the fields filled in, is to use something like OmniForm or Form Typer (part of Paperport). These utilities turn a scanned in form into a fillabel form, by recognizing the areas that need to be filled and placing editable boxes on an overlay.
Thanks, but I've definitely done it with Acrobat Pro before.
I was able to make a textbox by by dragging my mouse to create a rectangle where I wanted to type... then just typed in it.
Acrobat Pro? Meaning the full version that allows you to author PDFs, correct? That's what I said. Look up Forms in Acrobat Help it has specific instructions.
After scrolling through a dozen articles that refer to helps with forms that are already editable, I posted here.
Aw geez: I looked again and owe myself a knuckle to the forehead.
I was looking for the Forms Toolbar at
Advanced > Forms
Rather than
Tools > Advanced > Forms.
Here, I deserve this:

I don't have Acrobat Pro on this machine, otherwise I would have looked for you. Glad you found it.
Now can I pound you over the other issues? ;) Or is that what I have been doing?
No, thank you. I've sworn off those.
