    Lock and key mechanism
    Hi I have done my own research, but I can't seem to find any specific answers I'm looking for, my question is what is the lock and key mechanism to explain how enzymes work

    I'll try to explain:

    The 'lock' is the enzyme and has a specific shape, so that only the fitting 'key' (that is the substrate) can fit in, but not other 'keys'. THis shows that only one type of enzyme can work on one type of substrate.
