    No paperwork in court
My son was given a ticket for a MIP in August. We had a court date 9-29-08 which we appeared at. The clerk said that they have not received paperwork on my son and he was not in their computer system. They told me to call back in a week. So I did. Still no paperwork. They said they would mail us when it arrived. What if they never receive paperwork. What then. How long does it take before this case can be dropped?

My guess would be that the paperwork is being processed - they didn't forget and it won't be dropped.

If they can't FIND the paperwork, then it never existed - and it would be (technically) dropped.

    But I wouldn't count on it -

    Hello mis:

IF you had a lawyer, he would have gotten the charge dismissed just as soon as it became clear that the prosecution wasn't ready.

If you want to wait until they get their act together to screw over your son, you could. But, I wouldn't. I'd hire a lawyer NOW.
