    Underage Marriage
I am going to be 17 years old Saturday and I have been living with my boyfriend for a while and I want to get married. My mom has custidy of me and she doesn't know yet but she won't care she never does. I need to know where I can get the papers telling me what I need exactly to get married and who needs to be there to sign it or if I even need anyone to sign it since I'm over the age of consent?

Well normally if your mom has custody of you she will be able to sign. Of course this means she has let a 16 year old leave home and live with the boyfriend, so I would have a lot of issues in general with this from why there is a need or rush to live together and get married.

    WAIT. Don't do it yet.

I know this sounds like every other adult. Don't do it. Don't do it etc.

I'm not saying that it would be a mistake or anything like that. I have been married for 10 years (I was 18), been with him for 11. I love my husband and we thought that having kids right away would be a good thing too. I love my kids too. But after a while you realize that you really didn't live your life or possibly think things out as much as you should/could have.

Do you have a job? Does he have a job? Do you have a house? Are you able to get a house? Are you going to finish school? Will you go to college? How will you pay for college?

Really, there is SO much time for you to decide if you want to get married. If you already live together then make sure that it's what you really want. At least wait until you have graduated High School and turned 18 if not later. This will give you more time to decide if you really want to look at this man for the REST of your life.

I hope all works out well for you whichever path you decide to take.

Age of consent is different from being legal. You might be able to consent to sex but you can't get married. In order for you to even get married in most states you need a parents approval. If it's no rush you might as well until next year when you turn 18.

Hi I'm not sure where your from ,But I live in Georgia.. I got married when I was 17 so it's no big deal to me... to each their own. You can get the necessary papers or info from your state courthouse or their website will tell you what you need to do .
I got married in 94 ,I was 17 but I had to have both of my parents sign saying it was OK .
Just check your state courthouse website under magistrate ,Hope it helps and good luck no matter what.
