TRy restarting your computer then reconnect to the network , you can also do a power cycle on your router by turning it off for 20 seconds...

Okay, I have done all that. Maybe it is because it is a refurbished in China, NetGear adapter that I got on sale at TigerDirect without a NetGear serial number on it. It is not supported by NetGear or Rogers Portable High Speed Internet or D-Link.

Hence my question in this forum.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

No problem, if that is the case just access your router setup page and do some changes on its wireless settings like, changing the ssid, channel and disable also the wireless security and try to connect to that new network...

Open a web browser like internet explorer or Netscape. Enter the ip address of your router in the address bar of your browser. In the picture above the address bar has Google in it. Just replace all of that with the ip address of your router. By default the ip address should be set to 192.168.0.1.

You should see a box prompting you for your username and password. Enter your username and password now. By default the username is admin, and the password is blank. Click the Ok button to log in to your router.
Click the Advanced button near the top of the page then there you can change all the wireless settings...
