His sperm shoots up to where it's supposed to go. It's normal for what seems to be a lot of sperm to come out after your done, trust me enough get in there to get the job done! So I'm sorry but I don't believe that would be a reason not to conceive. I'm sure you'll get a more informative answer from one of our experts. Good luck to you.

How long have you been actively trying? It can be perfectly normal for it to take a year or so for some couples. Once you have been trying for over a year, your doctor will likely suggest starting some basic testing on both of you. (it doesn't matter that he has a one year old, things can change and he should still have testing done as well).
There are several ways to try to determine when you are most likely ovulating... temping/charting, ovulation predictor tests, watching for changes in cervical mucus and position, etc.. While these can let you know when your body is preparing to ovulate, you won't actually tell you that you have indeed ovulated. This is one reason why testing after a year is suggested... (or after 6 months if you are 35 or older). Hope you have success soon!
