Ask Me Help Desk - One of my kittens accidentally got stepped on,

This afternoon, my mom and I had the ladder in the living room measuring curtain rods. My mom was on the top step and Tigra, our 12 week old kitten, was curious as to what she was doing and jumped up on the lstep below where my mom was standing and neither one of us saw her there. We were both looking up at the curtain rods as my mom stepped down on the ladder with all of her weight (200 lbs) and the arch of my mom's foot went on Tigra. I'm not sure where she got stepped on at and she didn't even meow or anything. She jumped off fast and ran underneath the couch. We got her out and she wouldn't move but she was holding her head up. I held her and petted her for awhile and laid her down with her two siblings. Tigra remained there for an hour or so as the other two male kittens were grooming and cuddling with her and us giving her lovins. When I petted her she would purr and close her eyes. We tried to get her to come to us and she wouldn't but eventually she started moving with a limp in her right arm. My mom and I felt her body in comparison to the other kitten her size and she didn't seem have any broken bones. The only difference we noticed was in her right arm muscle tissue. It seemed flatter. As Tigra breathed her heartbeat and breathing was irregular and when she eventually started purring, it wasn't consistent with the other cat's purr. When Tigra breathed out, her purring got louder and it seemed split up instead of a constant noise. Her poop and urine isn't bloody and she's not drooling. She ate after awhile but when she did it, she shook her head every few bites. I'm not sure if she just does that or if it was because of the injury. It's been about 14 hours and she's still alive but she doesn't seem like herself. Tigra isn't limping so much anymore but you can tell it still hurts her. I'm not sure what to do and I was told that a visit to the vet wouldn't do any good. I was also told that if she was going to pass she would go off by herself and that she wouldn't be purring but she stays close to her two siblings..
Also... her two siblings are male and one of them is the Otto, the Alpha male. He plays rough with her and bites her neck one second and then licks it the next. Before the injury she would bat at him and play back but now he bites her legs and neck and she meows like crazy. I'm not sure what's up with that. Can someone please help me?

She's right next to me sleeping right now with Otto and she's purring in a heartbeat kind of way if you know what I mean.

Who told you that a vet visit wouldn't do any good? A kitten that has had someone step on her with their full weight needs to be seen by a vet. You may very well be dealing with broken ribs or internal organ damage. Purring is not always a sign of contentment, it can be a self-comforting issue. In other words, cats in extreme pain often purr to make themselves feel better. And cats will almost never show signs of pain, as it makes them vulnerable to attack by other animals.

If I were you, the cat would have been at the vet already. You need to get x-rays to check for broken bones, and a good over-all exam to check for soft-tissue damage.

Please take her to the vet right away!

I agree with all 3 posts, get your precious kitten to the vet asap even if you need to call an emergency vet in. This can NOT wait.

Also, Froggy is 100% correct; Cats in extreme pain WILL purr specifically to comfort themselves. I even have a book on my desk in front of me that the vet provided that details this.
