violation of probation from another state
I live in neighboring state where I have been in violation of probation for 15 years of 20 year probation. For 5 years I kept up with it, even told the PO when I was moving that I was moving, but as he never seemed to care much, I then just dropped the whole thing. I recently was stopped in my state and advised I have a warrant for my arrest in the other state. I've never been in any other trouble. The 20 year probation would have been up this year, and I had just hoped it would fade away. I see it will not. Do I get an attorney in the town where I currently reside or do I need to get an attorney from the state where I have the warrant, and does that attorney need to be from that particular county also?

It would help tremendously if the attorney was in the county that issued the warrant for you as he would know the situation better from a close up viewpoint and be closer to the courthouse vs an attorney from a different location within that state or an attorney in your present state. Warrants never expire. You should have kept up with your probation (yes, I know this is hingsight) but now since you did not, this situation has to be resolved.
