New hot water heater doesn't work
I just bought a new whirlpool electric water heater. I get no hot water from it at all. The elements are receiving power. Connected power waited 4 hours and no hot water. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    A little more information please.

You say you have no hot water, I take that you have water but it is not hot.

You also say that the elements have power, how did you check that? Do you know what voltage is at the elements? Who did the wiring? Is this a replacement or a new installation? Have you check the temperature settings?

Describe wiring connections, size of cable and number of wires in cable.

Thanks for answering, This is a new installation, I did the wiring, 2 wires coming out of the top of the water heater. They are 12ga, red and black. I ran 10-2 wire to a 30 amp breaker. There is continuity in the bottom element but no continuity in the top element. Temp setting is at 120 F. Reset button pushed in.

Is that a 30 amp double breaker, with the black and white connected to the breaker and ground to neutral bar?"

    KISS

Is the hot just slightly warmer than the cold? Drain some water out of the drain valve and check.

Thanks for your help. Turns out that both elements were bad. Brand new water heater. Took it back to Lowe's got a new one no questions asked. Hooked up the new one in a half hour I had hot water.

Thanks again for taking the time to help me
