Let me ask you this. Would you get on an airplane where the pilot was 72 years old, and you weren't sure that the co-pilot could actually fly the plane? I don't think you would.
After her recent performances, you can't seriously think Sara Palin is qualified to be president. If you do, then I think you drank some Republican koolaid.

McCain may live to 100. He looks really great for a man who has been on the campaign trail and working late in Washington lately. Did you see his 96 yr old mother? She could pass for 70. In fact, I've seen 60 yr olds that looked worse. As far as the vp is concerned, do you really like Biden better than Palin? Why? Or are you hoping he drops out and Hillary comes in?
After what you said about Obama in the debate, I'm surprised at you. I would like to see a face off between Palin and Obama. It ain't going to happen, but what a show that would be!

I'll join in this discussion, as long as every one can agree to not start throwing around agrees/disagrees. This is, after all, an opinion question.
I'll come right out and say that I'm going to be voting for McCain. Now before others start hurling the "right-wing, closed-minded, Bible-thumping" accusations, I would like to say this: I don't like McCain; that's not why he's getting my vote. I think Obama is a brilliant speaker and I think he's got fantastic ideas for this country. However, I have yet to hear him explain how.
You see, I hear him state that he's going to provide a universal healthplan. But what is he going to pay for it with? And let's not ignore that people in Britain, who have free healthcare, have to wait about a year to get in to see a dentist.
I also don't appreciate the hypocrisy over not saluting the flag(yes, that happened) or wearing a flag pin because it "might be insulting to other nations." Quite frankly, I don't give a damn what other nations think of me. This isn't their country and if they don't like it, then they don't need to move here.
I am very disturbed that the man Obama himself referred to as his "mentor" actually asked God to damn America - from his pulpit in his church - and referred to this country as the "U.S. of KKK-A" and also said that the government invented the AIDS virus to wipe out the African-Americans. Am I missing something here... we're going to elect someone whose mentor is a paranoid racist? And then Obama said it shouldn't matter "whether he agrees or disagrees with Rev. Wright's statements"... how can anyone buy into that? When someone is your reverend for 20 years, you obviously have taken a liking to them.
And as for the whole "McCain doesn't support equal pay for women; he says they need more education and training" deal, that's an outright lie. I spent the time looking into where this story grew from; McCain sat out on a vote for an act that would allow more women to file lawsuits against their employers based on pay discrimination. Did he make a remark about education and training? Yes. Because he was referring to women who are coming out of raising a household and don't have the experience. Sorry, but if you come into my workplace without any experience or training and start demanding to earn as much as I do when I've been here for 5 years? Hell no.
So that's my rant for the day. I could go on but I did that yesterday *lol*

OK I get it .Biden says one horrendous gaffe after another, draws crowds in the single digits, is rumored to be dumped any day now, is probably the worst national candidate in history, yet Sarah keeps taking the heat.
I will be interested to see people's reaction to her "performance" after the debate. Unlike the Gibson and the cBS' perky one with no ratings ambush ,there will be no heavy editing of the answers .

Would you board a plane where the pilot was taking his first solo flight and his co-pilot has a history of making significant mistakes when at the wheel?
We're talking about the single most inexperienced man ever to run for president and he's being backed up by the biggest gaff-machine in Congress.
I'll take the highly experienced pilot and the able-if-still-learning co-pilot any day of the week. At least she's piloted a Cesna and brought it to a safe landing. The rookie on the other side has no flight experience at all.

Joe Biden is famous for his gaffes, and that is part of what endears him to the American people! We love his chatty nature and straightforward manner and his gaffes. What a great Irishman!
Sarah Palin doesn't make gaffes... she is just plain stupid about foreign and domestic issues, as she has proven by her own mouth.
Biden is a great, honest, experienced guy who is not a constant liar like BUSH and Captain McQueeg.

The VP selection is historically a political consideration.(at least since the Constitution was amended from the time when the person who came in 2nd in the vote was VEEP). Rarely if ever is the primary consideration "can the candidate run the country ? ". In fact until recently ,throughout history ,VPs have described the position kindly as "not worth a warm bucket of p*ss ".
Perhaps the issue here is age discrimination .Everyone seems to be putting extra weight on McCain's age . I however do not expect him to die in the first days of his term .I expect he has what it takes to complete his term.If by some misfortune in the course of his term he does expire,Palin will have had plenty of time to familiarize herself with the needs of the position.
Governors make decisions. They are chief executives. They veto stuff. They never vote "present."So do mayors .
I find it ironic that the last 4 of the last 6 presidents have been governors with no foreign policy experience before they entered the oval office.Bill Clinton had been governor of an "small insignificant state", and nobody said he lacked qualifications to be President. The current Presidential candidate on the Democrat side was essentially sitting in a State Senate position. ( discounting of course the time he had a cup of coffee in the US Senate).But their qualifications were not questioned .
She has been a true reformer in her Governor term. Nationally she is recognized as the governor with the best reputation for fighting pork, the governor with the best reputation in the nation for taking on the corrupt heavyweights in her own party, and one of the nation's most popular governors.Overall ;her total public career as an executive has been 16 years. The total combined executive experience of the Democrat team has been running their own campaigns(except for Obama's brief tenure as head of the Annenberg Project... assement of that performance is inconclusive because the records have been scrubbed )
As for foreign policy experience ;Alaska share borders with Canada and Putin's Russia .Despite the dismissives I've heard ,that is not insignificant . Clearly she already has as much ;if not more ,foreign policy experience as previous Governors who have become President like Carter ,Clintoon ,and GW Bush.

So I come to the conclusion that your assessment of her is not based on the fact that she is a Governor ;but because you did not like her performances in 2 interviews by a biased media (as I demonstrated with the editted links in my first response ) .
In fairness you should watch how she does in the debate Thurs. and the rest of the time before the election to determine if you are correct.
