    Area of integration
    Hello,

How would you do this question:

Find the area bounded by the curves with equations y=1/2sin(2x) and y=-cos(1/3x), the line x= PI/2 and the y-axis.

I don't know the value of the y-axis. How would I work out this value, everything else is fine.

    Thanks

You need to have at least a sketch, that'll make you see it more clearly. The y axis and the line are the limits of the region. Then, according to your sketch, find the area you need through integration.

As mentioned, always graph these things. Since the y-axis is a bound, doesn't that correspond to x=0?
Here is a graph of your region.

You have a graphing package on your PC galactus?

Yes, I do. It is a free download. Let me root out the site and you, too, and have it.

Here is the link to the graphing utility I use. It is very nice for a freebie.
