    Cat burglar and phone calls.
    Hey..

I'm a tad freaked out right now.. For the past few weeks some one under the name "Private Caller" Keeps calling my house ever few days.. When someone picks up they hang up imidetly.. Well today this person called.. I picked up but didn't answer.. Mainly to see if I hear breathing or anything.. Then I said hello and the person hung up.. I live in a town house and I have various weapons around the house, but if I'm away there's nothing I can do if a catburglar strikes.. Which gets me to another topic.. Recently I heard from a fellow student that his friend and another kid have been burglarizing homes.. I do know who the kid is and today I heard he is on probation.. (I was walking behind him and he said it to the other burglar).. So I don't know.. Is a girl stalking me? Is it a person trying to get to voice mail? I just don't know.. I may contact authories of the phone company to trace the call.. But I'd like some opinions.

Private caller can be anyone with an unlisted number. Or it can be a business. It could be kids prank calling you.

If you see private caller -just don't answer the phone. If it is someone that actually wants or needs to speak to you - they will leave a message.

No one has my number though.. We are unlisted and not even my friends have my number.. They call my cell if they need anything.. The only one I can think of that would have my number is my ex girlfriend.. but that was 3 years ago..

Why don't you call your phone company and ask them to program your phone so that you won't receive private calls. You'll only receive calls that show there number. And if you have friends or family that have their number private, tell them to mark *82 before your number.

Anyone can get a hold of a number. And they are typically recycled numbers. Most areas have the same first 3 numbers. The last four are obviously different. But you can put any combo in and probably connect with someone.

We have privacy manager on our phone. We were getting so many sales calls, it was annoying. Anyway, any call that comes in as blocked or private, they have to be announced first. The service gives you the option to accept or deny the call or even play a "sales refusal" message.

If it is truly bothering you - then call your phone company. I am not sure what they will be able to tell you, but it might make you feel better.

And the chances of it being someone planning a buglary... I would think are slim. Again, if it shows up private, don't answer it.

I see.. We had this number for 18 years and many times we get private callers.. They usually don't hang up.. It would be unwise to burglarize my house especially if the kids go to my school.. but well see what happens! Thanks for you help!
