Not sure what to do about painful shoulder.
I have been to the doctor and told that I have swelling in my shoulder muscles (bicep, and rotator cuff). I was prescribed an anti-inflammatory and have been taking it for a few days but it doesn't seem to be doing much. I'm supposed to get PT but the clinic cannot get me in for 2 more weeks! I just don't know what to do until then. Should I use a sling to support to keep me from using it too much and making it worse or not? I just don't know

After I posted this I found an article that says a sling can cause adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder). Does anyone who's a PT or Doc or gone through this agree?

I agree, slings should not be used for shoulder injuries, or arm injuries of any kind. Yes, they are a known cause of "frozen shoulder" and should be avoided at all costs.

The anti-inflammatories can take a while to work. Keep your appt with PT.

Thanks. I assumed the article was correct but appreciate a second, third, or fourth opinion. No slings. Got it, thank you! :)

I have had shoulder problems for a couple of years now. First on the left side which cleared up with chiropractic treatments and now the right side with the same symptoms. You could probably get a few chiropractic treatments in two weeks until the PT.
They do a combination heat and stimulation, then massage. If you don't want adjustments, tell them so.
I had an MRI and I am also going to an orthopedic Dr. soon.
Sometimes alternating ice and the heating pad help also.
