Welcome to wireless. First confirm antenna connections and configuration of router and card. Then try other rooms to get an idea of where it works and where it doesn't to deduce any common factors at the places it doesn't work.

You have extremely low range. My first suspect would be a dud card or interference of some sort. If you have a cordless phone, see if it operates at 2.4 GHz. If the Netgear isn't MIMO, you might also try configuring both devices for a specific mode that both devices support to eliminate the devices having to agree on a mode.

YOu can try first accessing the router setup page and change the wireless channel to 11, and if still the same prblem check if there's any high gain antenna that you can use for that router if none, get a wireless repeater to repeat the signal of your router.
