How do I connect a Satellite receiver, DVD-R and HDTV inline with HDMI Cables
:confused:My problem is so simple, but it is driving me insane. I hope someone can help me figure this out. I have read all instruction books, but there is absolutely no mention of what I need to do, and it should, but it doesn’t.

I have a Dish Network HDTV DVR Satellite Receiver (one HDMI output jack), Panasonic DMR-ES25 DVD Recorder (one HDMI output jack)
And a Mitsubishi 734 Series HD TV (three HDMI input jacks). The Dish Network Satellite Receiver and the Panasonic DVD recorder are both directly connected to
The HD TV by HDMI cables. It doesn’t get any simpler than that.

My problem is how do I use the DVD recorder to record from my satellite receiver, and subsequently play on my HDTV?

I have connected the output audio and S-video jacks of the Satellite receiver to the input audio and S-video jacks on my DVD recorder, but it seems the HDMI on the satellite receiver overrides the connection to the DVD recorder and plays directly to the HDTV. I select the #2 HDMI input on the HDTV which is the connection to the DVD recorder, and there is a signal, but it cuts in and out. I am unable to use any of the setup controls on my DVD recorder because of the signal cutout, and I am unable to record to the DVD recorder.

    What am I doing wrong?

Once again I have proven I am smarter than the average Techno Goof... er geek. After about an hour of studying the owners manuels of my components, I connected my components in the only way I deemed feasible. Still had problems. Called Panasonic customer service's 800 number. I was told to connect the components in he exact mannor I had already determined to be good. I told the tech I was having problems, DVD component was cutting in and out on HDMI-2. Tech mumbled something, couldn't understand. Told me to insert DVD and try to play. I said Thanks and hung up. I went back to the drawing board. Components connectly correctly, must be I/O switching issue. I discovered I hadn't programed the input ports correctly. Another hour of trial and error and BINGO!! Works like a charm! Word to the wise... most of the time the instruction books are written by people who don't understand simple english. Tech support reads out of a book, mostly FAQ's. Geek boys are a bunch of bone heads who will charge you a hundred bucks to tell you your computer can't be fixed (when all you needed was to brush the dust out of the cooling fan). If I don't immediately find the answer on the internet, I might as well figure it out myself!!

Hello, this is not an answer, since you answered your own question, but a question. Can you help!

I am having a similar problem & am only semi-knowledgeable about electronics. I have a Panasonic TH-42PX75U HDTV, a Panasonic DMR-EH55 DVD Recorder, and an Expressview HD Satellite Receiver. Satellite and DVD only have one "output" HDMI each. I can hook it up a few different ways with one HDMI cable, however, if the HDMI cable is in the DVD recorder I cannot work the HD functions properly on the satellite. If I have the HDMI cable in the Satellite I cannot work the DVD recorder functions. I use audio-video cables between the TV, Satellite and HD to get sound and picture, however I can't get a combination that works. I have tried changing the input, but that doesn't seem to work. I also have tried a 2nd HDMI cable, however, I have to change the input and then again the HD Satellite functions cannot be changed.
