    Debt Collection
How long does a creditor have to legally pursue a debt in the state of Virginia?

As far as pursuing... I was told by a debtor once that I can be pursued for a life time.

I know that does help much but thought I might tell about my experience.

    Have a good day.

Depends on the type of debt - on credit card debt the statute is 3 years.

If you receive correspondence/calls after that, simply tell the creditor to stop calling, the debt is out of Statute.

As Indianskin said, you can be pursued until the debt is paid. But there is a time limit on when they have to file suit against you. That depends on the type of debt.
